Gio reserves a special place in all our hearts at Mariah’s Miracle, as he is our FIRST recipient! Gio was in need of a cranial helmet after being diagnosed with torticollis, brachycephaly and plagiocephaly. Essentially, his skull was flattened and heavier on one side, leading to developmental issues in his neck and spine. Time was of the essence, as a baby’s skull cannot be reshaped after the age of one. After being denied insurance and told an appeal would be unlikely, Gio’s parents were faced with the burden of out-of-pocket costs to help correct these conditions. 

After learning about Gio’s story, we were eager to help! We were able to get him quickly  assessed and fitted for a helmet needed to gently correct his skull. That, coupled with physical therapy for his body and spine that was covered by insurance, we're happy to report Gio, now three, is one of the happiest and strongest boys you’ll ever meet. We’re so proud of you Gio, and honored to call you the first member of our Mariah’s Miracle family!
